This is thought to be an arena for a scrapped mini-boss. Metro Speedway Mayor I guess there could be a mystery around him being a human or that he looks like the dude from Mystic Marsh or that he refers to Hunter as "The Hunter" for some reason. I made a video a while back showing how to complete Toasty with only half an X-press. Half X press Similar to the infamous half-A-presses from Super Mario 64, but for the X button in Spyro instead. Summer Forest Moneybags skip You can also skip Moneybags earlier in the level, meaning there's no need to learn how to swim to complete the game. The whirlwind was completely removed from the game a couple weeks or so before the game was finished, there's no unused remnants of the object. Sadly, this is totally untrue, but has spread around for years due to some misleading wording given by one of the people that posted videos about the whirlwind patch. This whirlwind is still coded in the game, so you can restore it with hacks. This occurs in all versions of the game, so next time you play the game, go straight into Cloud Spires and watch how many gems you're collecting closely when you're walking towards the first Rhynoc. However, unlike a couple cases where the gem is totally unobtainable without changing the difficulty, it actually teleports to the ground directly below the player's feet during the first section as though it had fallen into the void, so the gem isn't inaccessible. The cloud gem in Cloud Spires only appears on the normal and easy settings due to it belonging to one of the Rhynocs - it's not entirely clear why it ends up that high though. Due to some oversights in this mechanic, a small handful of the gems can end up in unreachable locations temporarily if the difficulty drops low enough, which was one of the points of controversy with the original release of the game. Essentially, Spyro 3 has an adaptive difficulty feature, and on the lower difficulty settings some of the Rhynocs get replaced with the gems they'd usually drop. The currently unreleased build is also dated ~July 1998 though I think it's probably from around July 7th.Ĭloud Spires Gem So this is one that gets a lot of people confused, so I'll do a more in-depth explanation. June & July Prototypes The OP was most likely also referring to the released July 18th prototype which was also released by the same guy as the June 15th prototype earlier this year. Nice work again, here's some corrections and additions:
